Dell Updates Inspiron Mini 10 Netbooks with New Atom Pine Trail CPUs

Dell Updates Inspiron Mini 10 Netbooks with New Atom Pine Trail CPUs
Quite quickly to act, we might add

As you might remember from an article published earlier today, Intel decided to go official with the new Atom CPUs pertaining to the Pine Trail platform. Within the announcement, the chip manufacturer pointed out the fact that it had quite a large number of hardware partners who had already starting preparing new products based on the improved Atom, and it seems that one of them (Dell) was keen on being the first to push such a product onto the market.

However, we're not talking about a brand-new machine, but about a revamping of Dell's Inspiron Mini 10 netbook series, which has received quite a few enhancements, both hardware and design-wise. So, in the design department, the portable system has been updated with a textured, smudge-resistant palm rest, sculpted keys and the possibility to personalize it with a broad range of optional colors or hundreds of optional custom artwork.

On the inside, the Mini 10 will now feature the new Intel Atom N450 processor at 1.66 GHz, a 10.1-inch display with standard (1024x600) or High Definition (1366x768) options to become available in coming weeks, as well as built-in speakers with available SRS Surround sound. Furthermore, bundles with Broadcom Crystal HD for smooth HD playback are scheduled to arrive in Q1, while the battery life has also been pushed up, Dell providing a choice of three or six-cell integrated battery with up to 9.5 hours of battery life.

“The Inspiron Mini 10 continues to offer some of the best mobile entertainment options available in a great-looking, compact and lightweight design,” said Brian Pitstick, general manager of Dell’s mobile products. “With an even better look and great battery life, we think Mini 10 is the perfect companion PC for anyone who wants to be entertained and connected wherever they go.”

Unfortunately, Dell's revamped Inspiron Mini 10 will not hit the shelves in time for Christmas, users who want to get their hands on the netbook being forced to wait until early January, when this thing becomes available starting at $299.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit.
